On Saturday 14 April we’ll be holding a street stall outside the Guildhall on Market Square Cambridge, and leafleting in othe areas of the city, as part of a national day of action highlighting the role of the EU in building and maintaining peace in Europe.
Join us from 11 am and demand a final say on the terms of Brexit!
This day of action is being held in association with the Britain for Europe, The European Movement, Open Britain, Healthier IN, Scientists for EU and InFacts.
The European Union arose from a desire by its founders to make war in Europe “not merely unthinkable, but materially impossible” after the devastation of the second world war. By promoting trade and investment, enabling the free movement of workers, and breaking down the borders between nations it has succeeded to such a degree that its success is often taken for granted.
However, the crisis in Northern Ireland, where Brexit risks unravelling the delicate peace, shows that we take the benefits of the EU for granted at our peril. We believe that the people of the UK deserve a vote on the terms of Brexit, with remaining in the EU and option rather than letting our hard won peace and prosperity slip away..
We will also be distributing leaflets from The 3 Million urging EU nationals living in the UK to register to vote in this years local election, and to encourage all of us to use our vote to defend our rights as EU citizens!
If you would like to join us on the stall for an hour or two – and new volunteers are always very welcome – please email us at info@cambridgestays.org.uk
We want to do more campaigning in other towns in our region, particularly those currently without active pro-EU groups, so if you would like us to organise a stall in your town we’d love to hear from you!
