As time passes the Brexit negotiations descend ever further into farce, with the ever inept UK trade minister Liam Fox accusing the EU of blackmail, and almost the whole Government apparently in denial about the damage they are inflicting on the UK.
Those of us who know that the best future for the UK is to remain a full member of the EU are preparing for an Autumn of #StopBrexit Discontent, with events taking place across the UK, starting with a big march and rally outside Parliament this Saturday September 9th.
On Saturday 2 September Cambridge Stays supporters joined with members of the European Movement and Open Britain on a stall in Market Square Cambridge, as part of a national day of action involving campaigners in hundreds of cities, towns and villages across the UK – from Scotland to South-West England. Over the course of the day we spoke with hundreds of members of the public, handed out lots of flyers, and gathered signatures for a cross-party campaign to petition launched by the European Movement urging the Government to publish 50 publicly-funded studies it conducted into the impact of Brexit.
We were especially pleased that Cambridge MP Daniel Zeichner was able to drop by for a few minutes, having earlier joined several of the other stalls taking place in towns and cities across our region.
Thanks to Chris, Julia, Paul, Clair, Colin, Mary, Matthias, Christine, Boris, Peter, Richard, Charlotte, Barbara, Sharon, Corrinne, John, Olly, Flavio, Sam and Jillian for joining our stall and helping to show that resistance to Brexit is strong and growing!
